Family-owned since 1989, the Lantry family carries forward a legacy that began in 1915—when the lake first drew travelers seeking solitude, storytelling, and the restorative rhythm of the Northwoods.

Today, second-generation owners Tom and Steph Lantry have transformed that heritage into a refined lakeside experience that balances comfort with authenticity. Sixteen hand-crafted cabins and a private island retreat offer guests the chance to slow down, connect, and become part of the resort’s living narrative. Located in Northern Minnesota on the pristine shores of Lake Vermilion, White Eagle Resort is a 110-year-old lakeside retreat where heritage and modern comfort meet. Family-owned and operated by the Lantry family for more than 35 years, the resort features fifteen handcrafted cabins and a private island getaway—each designed to blend the natural beauty of the Northwoods with relaxed sophistication.

Known as “the Lake of the Sunset Glow,” Lake Vermilion spans over 40,000 acres with 365 islands, offering the perfect mix of grandeur and seclusion—an untouched wilderness where every sunrise and sunset feels like a private showing. Guests can explore its vast waters aboard our fleet of rental boats, including jet skis, fishing boats, and a double-decker slide pontoon, or slow down with canoeing, paddleboarding, and water-skiing. On land, enjoy pilates, beach yoga, or a relaxing massage, then unwind in the cedar sauna or gather by the fire under a canopy of stars.
